For relatively small cooperative like Baragwi Farmers Cooperative, it is quite uncommon to be associated with Rainforest Alliance certifications. Not only it is rather costly, the certifications demands a list of sustainable principles, including conserving local wildlife and water resources, minimising soil erosion, and treating workers fairly. Carrying the flag of Rainforest Alliance certification since 2011, this coffee is a product of formidable commitment towards sustainability.
This coffee is grown on the south of Mount Kenya and processed on Guama wet mill than has opened since 1974.
Speaking from experiences, it certainly lives up to Kenyan coffee’s reputation of having smooth body and dynamic acidity.
Tasting notes*): Clean body with dark chocolate, blackcurrant and lingering aftertaste.
